PHNOM PENH: The Ministry of Education officially announced the preliminary results of the High School Diploma Exam yesterday, breaking down the overall results before individual scores are released.

Figures show that nearly 73% of students who took the diploma exam passed: a total of 98,460. Among them, 1,673 (2%) students received an A; 6,964 (7%) students got a B; 18,308 (18%) students got a C; 34,246 (35%) students got a D; and 37,269 (38%) students received an E. This year, the Ministry considers anything above an F as a passing grade.

Official results will be announced for individuals today for Phnom Penh and Kandal Provinces. Students in other provinces will receive their scores tomorrow, November 24.

Exam results will be posted in the examination centers and on the official social media pages of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.

The diploma exam was successfully completed on November 6 -7, with just under 130,000 registered candidates showing up.

This year, nearly 8,000 more students passed the exam than last year, but the pass rate was about the same at 72.33%. This year also saw a decline in the overall average of grades. In 2022, 1,049 (1%) students got an A; 7,232 (8%) got a B; 19,053 (21%) got a C; 31,166 (34%) got a D; and 32,450 (36%) scored an E.

Students who do not pass can still apply for an associate’s degree before going on to study for a bachelor’s later.
